    1 David Hunter 3rd Balskellie, 2nd of Blackness (25 Jan 1743 - 19 Oct 1809 at Eskmount), m. 18 Feb 1770 Elizabeth Gibson, daughter of John Gibson of Durie,  had issue 12 children:
         a Alexander Gibson Hunter of Eskmount and Loretto, W.S., (3 Dec 1770 - 9 Mar 1812)  m. 29 Aug 1800 Anne Gibson Wright (13 Sep. 1771 - 18 Dec 1843) had issue:
             1 David Hunter, Esq. of Blackness J.P., (3 Jan 1803SP - 13th Jan 1882) Deputy-Lieutenant 1831, married  Margaret Mathieson at St. Giles in 1872 and had issue:

             2 Alexander Hunter, b 2 Aug 1804sp died 13th March 1827, aged 22 years At 67 Queen Street.
             3 Margaret Hunter, ( - 19 may 1843) m 20 Nov. 1833 Colonel W. Low, Madras Army 2nd son of Robtert Low of Clatto
             4 Elizabeth Hunter, who died unmarried on the 13th March 1848.
             5 Amelia (Emelia) Gardyne Hunter (25 Dec 1807 - 11 Sep 1839).
             6 Dr Thomas Hunter, Deputy Inspector General of Hospitals, (24 Jun 1810 - 7th Oct 1880), aged 70 years.
             7 Robert Cathcart Hunter, Ensign of the 24th Regiment (12 Mar 1812 - 4th Sep 1834 Montreal), aged 22 years.

         e Elizabeth Carmichael Hunter (20 Oct 1776 - 12 May 1857) m. 7 aug 1811 James Rose of Flemington had issue:
             1 Helen Rose (18 Nov 1812 at sea 27 Aug 1846).
             2 Jane Ramsay Rose (1814 - 29 Sep 1849).  
         f John Hunter, (2 Aug 1778 - 12 May 1795) in the naval service E.I.C., mate of the Ocean Indiaman. died age 17 in St. Helena.

         h Major Thomas Hunter (27 Apr 1780 - 19 Mar 1840), of the 104th Regt., aide-de-camp to general Martin Hunter in New Brunswick, buried Barry Churchyard.

         j Capt William Hunter H.E.I.C. Naval S. (1784 - 30/4/1843) m 18 June 1821 to Mary Knox (sister to the spouse of his sister Mary Ann),had issue:
                       1 1822 b jan 26 "At Montrose the lady of Captain Hunter of the Sir David Scott, Indiaman of a son?"
                       2 Andrew Knox Hunter, (31 May 1826 - Jan 1858), edin academy 1837-8, Ensign 37th M.N.I. 1845; Lt. 1850; ret. 1855; died Aged 32, late Lieut. 37th Madras Grenadiers.

                       4 Robert Scott Hunter, (1 Sep 1831 - 1896) m. 1861 Clara Maria Middleton, led troop in the Charge of the Light Brigade, died without issue.
